You’ll find the Amazon Rainforest to the north and a more open terrain of hills and low mountains to the south — home to most of Brazil's population and its agricultural base. Along the Atlantic seacoast are several mountain ranges, reaching up to 2,900m. Brazil is home to the Amazon; the largest river in the world in flowing water volume, and the second longest in the world. Possessing large and well-developed agricultural, mining, manufacturing, and service sectors, as well as a large labor pool; Brazil is South America's leading economic power and a regional leader. Its 2006 estimated population was 188,078,261.
